2023 year in Review

The Staunton Augusta Junior Women’s Club has been maintaining membership and continuing with projects in 2023. The Club has several ongoing projects, time specific projects, and one-time projects.

The ongoing projects include egg carton and plastic bag recycling, club fitness goals where everyone works at their own pace, ESO book reading, monthly dinner meetings where members share hosting responsibilities, maintain our blessing box, and provide general donations to area nonprofits that help our community.

The Club held quarterly trash pick-ups, an annual Christmas ornament fundraiser, evaluation and distribution of scholarships to high school graduates, a display at the park for the Celebration of Holiday Lights, and helped assist with the Shop With A Cop program.

This year for the GFWC National Day of Service, Club members painted our blessing box for higher community visibility and donated $150 worth of groceries.

The Club also made financial donations to Nature Camp, Camp Easterseals, Night to Shine, Shop With A Cop program, and Magnolia Rose.

For Advocates for Children week the Club made a financial donation to the Valley Children’s Advocacy Center and helped promote their Turkey Trot fundraiser. The Club also received a proclamation from the City Of Staunton for “Advocates For Children Week” on behalf of GFWC, in recognition of our dedication to the awareness and promotion of the well-being of children.

Four members held chairmanship positions on district, state, and GFWC level. Three members attended the GFWC Virginia LEADS program. The Club hosted the Shenandoah District Spring Meeting.
